Privacy Policy

Last updated: 26 September 2026

Marram is a private DBT diary card app. This policy explains, in plain language, what happens to your data. The short version: your diary stays on your phone. We don't have a server, we don't have your data, and we can't see anything you write.

The short version

What data Marram stores, and where

Everything you enter — emotions and their intensities, urges to target behaviors and their outcomes, DBT skills used, written notes, free journal entries, your tracked lists, and app settings — is stored only in local storage on your device (an on-device SQLite database).

This data:

Voice dictation

If you use the microphone to dictate a note:

The first time you use dictation, Marram shows a one-time notice describing this behavior.

Reminders / notifications

Reminders are local notifications scheduled on your device. They are not push notifications — no server is involved, and no data is sent anywhere to deliver them. You can turn them off at any time in Settings.

Crisis resources (Anchor)

When you choose to call or text a crisis line from the Anchor screen, Marram opens your phone's dialer or messaging app with the number filled in. The call or message is handled by your phone and carrier in the normal way; Marram does not place the call, record it, or receive any information about it.

Exporting your data

You control export. When you export your diary (as a therapist PDF or a full data file), Marram creates the file on your device and hands it to the operating system's standard share sheet. You decide where it goes (email, Messages, AirDrop, Files, etc.). Marram does not upload it anywhere.

Device security

You can optionally enable a Face ID / passcode lock in Settings. This is a lock on the app on your device — not an account. It protects access to the diary if someone else picks up your phone; it does not send anything anywhere.

Data we do not collect

To be explicit, Marram does not collect or process any of the following: name, email, contacts, location, advertising identifiers, usage analytics, crash telemetry that identifies you, health data from other apps, or your diary content. In App Store terms, our privacy label is "Data Not Collected."

Children

Marram is a self-monitoring tool intended for people in or considering DBT therapy. It is not directed at children. Because we collect no data, we do not knowingly collect information from anyone, including children.

Not a medical device

Marram is a self-monitoring and journaling tool meant to support therapy. It does not diagnose, treat, or provide medical advice, and it is not a substitute for professional care. If you are in crisis, use the Anchor screen's resources or contact your local emergency number.

Future optional features

Any feature that would move data off your device (for example, an optional iCloud backup using your own iCloud account, or an opt-in Apple Health integration) will be off by default and clearly described before you turn it on. If we add such features, we will update this policy first. As of this version, no such feature is active and no data leaves your device.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, we will update the date at the top and, for material changes, note it in the app or its release notes.
